Featured newsletter of the month: June

This month's showcase is all about Dad.

The Red Barn put together this clean, simple and perfect-for-mobile newsletter for Father's Day.

It has a great image to text ratio and a clear call to action.

However, their call to action is missed by the fact that it doesn't link to anything.  They could improve their conversions by linking straight to the gift card purchase page or to their website.

So our tip for this month is remember to link your calls to action to a good landing page.

Our Key Email Metrics Have Changed!

Email marketing is more than just creating a newsletter and sending it. The marketing
value comes into play when analysing the key metrics on a newsletter send, which can easily be done with your drill-down GraphicMail reports.

Take a peek at the 7 key metrics that email marketers rely on:

·                     List size
·                     Delivery rate or deliverability in industry speak.
·                     Open rate
·                     Click-through rate
·                     Conversion rate
·                     Unsubscribes and spam complaints
·                     Historical comparisons

As the industry develops, there are standards for calculating these metrics that are adopted across the industry. The industry standards have evolved and along with them the formulas used for determining some of our key metrics.

Here are the changes we’ve come to incorporate into our formulas.

What percentage of your mails were forwarded to friends:

Old Formula:  Mails Forwarded / Mails Sent
New Formula:  Mails Forwarded  / Mails Opened

How many people unsubscribed from your newsletters:

Old Formula: Unsubscribed / Sent
New Formula: Unsubscribed / Mails Opened

How many complaints did you receive:

Old Formula:  Complaints / Sent
New Formula:  Complaints / Openened

How many mails weren't even opened:

Old Formula:   Not Opened / Mails Sent
New Formula:  Mails Not Opened / Mails Delivered
